Obituary for Adele Phila Hessling

Adele Phila Hessling was born in Billings, Montana to Delbert and Ada Wardell. She was the twinkle in her father’s eye. She and her two sisters (Sally and Karen) grew up with a great appreciation for the outdoors and wildlife, camping often in the mountains with their parents. Throughout her entire life she enjoyed visiting the Tetons and other beautiful places, always appreciating God’s creation. Having her daddy’s green thumb, she always grew a wide variety of flowers in her garden.

Eventually her family moved to Lander in the 50s, where her father worked as a carpenter. Adele eventually met former Navy man and carpenter, Vic Hessling, the love of her life. They married and started a family. While Vic worked construction and ranch work, Adele worked for the clerk’s office and raised her precious 4 children, Del, Vicky, and the twins (Chris and Cate).

When the kids were in school, Adele felt called to be a teacher, so she started college at CWC. She finished her bachelors at Northwest Nazarene College, graduating with a 4.0 GPA. She taught first graders at South Elementary School for 16 years, before having to retire for health-related issues. She adored her students and kept touch with many of them, even sending graduation cards over the years. She truly loved teaching because she loved her students.

Adele was a devoted Christian, wife, sister, mother, grandmother, mentor, and friend. She was adored by many, and be will greatly missed. She volunteered many hours for church and ministry events. She enjoyed cooking for her family, shopping at yard sales, gardening, collecting artwork and antiques, and spending time with family. She was known as an amazing and encouraging, godly woman.

She passed away peacefully in Casper, surrounded by her family, who sang hymns and songs to her as she made her final journey home to her Lord. She is survived by her husband, Vic Hessling, her sisters, Sally Baldwin and Karen Wilson; children Delbert(Patti) Hessling, Victoria(Bob) Thomason, Christeen(Jeff) Kimber, and Cathereen(Dan) Wyrick; grandchildren Adam and Elizabeth Wyrick, Kasi(Matthew) Peil and Kyle Hessling, and Bridger Kimber. Services will be held at Hudson Funeral home on December 21 at 1 pm, procession to Hudson Cemetery, and dinner following at the Hudson Town Hall.
