Obituary for Jerald Grant Wilson

Jerry died Wednesday, January 17th at his home. He was 74 years old. Per his request, there will be no funeral services. Cremation has taken place.
Jerald Grant Wilson was born September 14, 1943 at Deadwood, SD, the second of four children born to Charles and Lyla Wilson. He graduated from Fermont County Vocational High School in 1961. He will be remembered as the first wrestler from Lander to win a State Wrestling Championship. He married his soul-mate Cheryl Franz in Jackson, WY on October 12, 1984. Jerry helped Cheryl finish raising her daughters. They spent their married life traveling with Amoco Production Co, living in several places and retiring in Lander in 1999.
Jerry enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and sharing his produce with friends, neighbors and family. His passions were pheasant and elk hunting and following his grandchildren in sports along with the wrestling career of his nephew Austin Wilson, who was a NCAA ALL American from Nebraska. Jerry and Cheryl spent many wonderful days rock hunting, traveling and in their garden. He was a WY Cowboys and Denver Broncos fan. Jerry had a gift of Laughter and extremely hard work ethic. His friends will remember him for his pranks and crazy jokes. He was always smiling.
He is survived by his wife Cheryl. Sons, Shawn (Tracey) Wilson of Lander & Kenneth (Dennis) Wilson-Mello of Huntington Beach, CA; daughters, Lisa (Jeff) Stone of City Island, NY & Jami (Cory) Cline of Queencreek, AZ; daughter in-law, Angela Wilson of Lander; grandchildren Lauren Wilson, Rebecca Wilson, Ryan Wilson, Carissa Cline, Spencer Reichert, Riley Reichert, Billy Blake and Uriah Wilson; three great-grandsons, Cameron and Dante; sisters, Beverly (Dick) Scott and Barbara (Blake) Snyder of Riverton; brother, Craig (Donna) Wilson of Juanita, NE; sister-in-law, Rosanne (Tim) McKinney of Lander; many nieces and nephews; several very special friends who were a big part of his life for the past several years, Don (Susan) Brooks, Dough Trabing, Don Hundley and Zach & Ann Evan (Brooks & Adlyn).
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Roger Wilson; granddaughter, Traci Wilson; and nephew, Todd McKinney.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Food Pantry at the Methodist Church, C/O Mark Calhoun. A Celebration of his life will be held next summer.
