Obituary for Russell Leroy Savage Jr.

Russell Leroy Savage Jr. left this world on January 3, 2018 at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born December 1, 1954 in Cloquet, Minnesota the son of Russell Savage Sr. and the late Corrine Compton.
He attended Fort Washakie Elementary School and graduated from Lander Valley High School. Immediately after High School he joined the U.S. Army Air Calvary and was stationed in Junction City, Kansas as a Crew Chief Helicopter Mechanic. He was honorably discharged from the Army and was a disabled Veteran.
Russell went to work for the Environment Health Program of the Indian Health Service at Fort Washakie, where he worked for 39 years. He was a Firefighter and 1st Responder with the Fort Washakie Fire Department for many years. He especially enjoyed hosting the Rabies Vaccine Clinics and the Spay and Neuter Clinics around the Reservation.
He enjoyed fishing, going to the Casino and watching his favorite teams, the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings play football. Russell also enjoyed working on cares, especially classing cars and driving his classic El Camino.
He is survived by his sons, Logan Savage Sr., Russell Savage and daughter, Tara Snyder and her daughter Quinlyn Crawford; he was proud of his grandchildren, Logan Savage Jr., Aurora Savage, Estrella Savage, Jami Rain Savage and Tyrus Savage; his sisters, Nancy Gilbert and family, Naomi Chavis and family, and Toni Norman and family; his two brothers, David Kitchin and family, Terry Savage and family; his father, Russell Savage Sr. He will be remembered by his many nephews, nieces, cousins and other extended family members as well as by the many good friends he made over the years.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Corrine Compton Kitchin and an infant son.
